Lockwood is seeking a Senior Scientific Director - Publications (Heme-Onc) to join its team. This full-time position offers the flexibility of being based remotely or working out of the company headquarters in Stamford, CT. Lockwood partners with organizations in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device sectors, delivering holistic and evidence-based medical communications strategies to fulfill client objectives.
In this capacity, the Senior Scientific Director will oversee, plan, and develop scientific content for designated accounts, focusing on hematology and oncology therapeutic areas. The professional will collaborate with the Group Scientific Director to offer strategic guidance supporting brand goals, lead content execution independently, supervise Associate Scientific Directors, and coordinate with internal or freelance personnel for writing and research tasks.
This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced scientific communications professional with a strong background in medical publications and heme-oncology. Ideal candidates possess advanced analytical and organizational capabilities, familiarity with industry ethical standards, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under strict deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and oversee scientific content for assigned accounts across designated therapeutic areas
- Partner with the Group Scientific Director to deliver strategic medical communication recommendations that align with brand goals
- Independently lead the execution of content development projects
- Supervise Associate Scientific Directors
- Collaborate with internal and freelance staff to manage writing, background research, data-checking, and reference annotation
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience with medical publications such as manuscripts, posters, abstracts, podium presentations, scientific platforms, and publication extenders
- Demonstrated experience working in Heme/Oncology
- Proficiency with established professional medical editorial processes including AMA style
- Working knowledge of ethical guidelines such as ICMJE and GPP2022
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication abilities
- Capability to analyze and interpret scientific data, multitask, work independently, and meet strict deadlines
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in science such as a PhD, PharmD, or MD
- CMPP certification preferred
