Anduril Industries seeks a remote Senior FPGA Engineer to build advanced networking and communications equipment for defense applications. The organization focuses on modernizing military capabilities through autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and sensor fusion, powered by its Lattice OS platform. In this position, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering groups spanning radio frequency, digital signal processing, firmware, software, and testing to produce reliable embedded processing platforms.
This role is well-suited for an experienced hardware specialist who can steer the complete lifecycle of FPGA firmware development, from requirements and MATLAB or Simulink algorithms to architectural design, verification, and deployment on low-cost field-programmable gate arrays, systems-on-chip, and systems-on-modules. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active United States Secret security clearance.
As part of the compensation package, Anduril Industries provides an estimated base salary range of $166,000 to $220,000 per year, alongside equity grants for most full-time positions and top-tier benefits designed to support employee health and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radio frequency, digital signal processing, firmware, software, and test engineering to deliver embedded processing systems for networking and communications
- Drive the entire firmware development lifecycle starting from algorithms in MATLAB or Simulink through architecture, design, coding, testing, integration, and ongoing support for low-cost field-programmable gate arrays, systems-on-chip, and systems-on-modules
- Define and refine development workflows and methodologies for hardware description language firmware covering architecture, simulation, verification, and system testing
- Design microprocessor interface control documents bridging field-programmable gate arrays and data handling architectures
Requirements
- Six or more years of hands-on background designing, developing, and verifying field-programmable gate array systems utilizing Verilog or VHDL
- Demonstrated history working alongside multidisciplinary product development groups to take hardware and embedded software from concept through production
- Practical background utilizing code generators to translate MATLAB or Simulink algorithms into actual field-programmable gate array deployments
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming languages
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems
- Working knowledge of common central processing units, microcontrollers, and field-programmable gate array hardware
- Understanding of standard interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, PCIe, and USB
- Familiarity with flight software development workflows and architectures for embedded systems
- Competency operating standard electrical engineering test gear like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators to evaluate printed circuit board assemblies
- Eligibility to secure and retain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related equivalent field
- Practical exposure to wireless communications equipment
- Specialized knowledge in computer networking
- Background utilizing AI-generated software tools such as Claude, CoPilot, or Code-GPT
- Experience integrating advanced security protocols
- Familiarity with high-reliability design practices suited for aerospace environments
- Knowledge of aircraft systems architectures with a focus on redundant configurations
- Familiarity with military and aerospace standards including DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, DO-311A, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-461
- Experience designing, testing, and debugging intricate board layouts within communications systems
