Robinhood is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join its iRAD team and help shape how millions of people manage their finances. Robinhood operates a financial platform aiming to democratize finance, focusing on investing experiences such as retirement, advisory services, recurring investments, and recommendations. In this role, you will build and evolve high-impact mobile features across onboarding flows, account management, and shared product surfaces. You will collaborate closely with design, product management, and backend engineering colleagues to deliver reliable and scalable mobile applications. This position requires working on-site at least three days per week in either New York City or Menlo Park, California.
The ideal candidate is an experienced mobile developer who enjoys taking complex projects from initial concept through release while adhering to high engineering standards. You will guide technical direction, ensure software scalability and safety, and mentor junior team members. Responsibilities
- Develop stable and intuitive mobile features using Jetpack Compose, Kotlin, and modern Android APIs.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of product features, handling everything from technical design to implementation, testing, and release.
- Partner with backend engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists on effective solutions.
- Promote engineering standards that prioritize scalability, maintainability, and code quality.
- Mentor junior developers to elevate team collaboration and coding practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in Android application development.
- Proficiency with Kotlin and/or Java.
- Strong understanding of Android architecture patterns like MVVM and the Android SDK.
- Experience working with Coroutines, Jetpack Compose, Flow or RxJava, and libraries such as Room and Retrofit.
- Ability to mentor peers, lead complex engineering projects, and influence architectural choices.
- In-person office attendance at least 3 days per week in New York City, NY or Menlo Park, CA.
