Expel seeks a remote Principal Solutions Architect to drive the technical strategy for major enterprise sales opportunities across the United States. In this individual contributor position, you will oversee the entire technical pre-sales journey, from initial discovery and service demonstrations to managing Proofs of Value and smoothing the handoff into customer delivery. Expel provides managed security operations and detection services, connecting clients with robust cloud, endpoint, and network security environments. This role is ideal for a seasoned technical professional who can bridge the gap between sales and engineering, build trust with stakeholders ranging from SOC analysts to CISOs, and provide honest guidance regarding what security solutions can achieve. Travel up to ten to twenty percent of the time is anticipated for customer meetings, conferences, and company visits. Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical strategy for large enterprise prospects through onboarding and the initial thirty days of service
  • Lead Proofs of Value by establishing success criteria, creating technical plans, and troubleshooting issues
  • Demonstrate technical security services to diverse audiences including practitioners and executives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor who can navigate technical objections and guide sales teams appropriately
  • Collaborate with account executives on regional sales strategies, technical discoveries, and competitive positioning
  • Prepare service delivery teams with necessary technical context, risk assessments, and environmental details
  • Handle technical escalations during Proofs of Value and the opening month of client service
  • Coordinate cross-functional work across product, engineering, sales, security operations, and customer success teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in Proof of Value methodologies, technical content, and internal processes
  • Mentor and raise the consultative bar for the wider solutions architecture team

Requirements

  • At least eight years of relevant background in solutions architecture, sales engineering, security consulting, or incident response
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex enterprise accounts and influence stakeholders without direct authority
  • Expertise in executing enterprise Proofs of Value, managing objections, and tying technical metrics to client goals
  • Strong technical background encompassing security operations, incident response, SIEM, endpoint protection, cloud, and network environments
  • Exceptional storytelling skills to translate complex technical concepts for varied stakeholders
  • High emotional intelligence with the capability to manage conflicting priorities and tough conversations
  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

Qualifications

  • Hands-on background working in a security operations center, threat hunting, incident response, or detection engineering
  • Experience selling or delivering managed detection and response, SIEM, EDR, XDR, or cloud security solutions
  • Background supporting large enterprise accounts with extended sales cycles and multiple stakeholders
  • Experience working directly with post-sale customer success or delivery teams
  • Familiarity with responding to complex enterprise RFPs and RFIs
  • Experience refining technical enablement and methodologies for broader engineering organizations
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
