The Armed Services YMCA National Headquarters is seeking a remote National Payroll Manager to lead the enterprise payroll function. This professional will direct end-to-end payroll operations, manage multi-state compliance, serve as the ADP Workforce Now system administrator, and oversee retirement plan administration. This position suits an experienced payroll specialist who thrives in a deadline-driven environment, excels in system administration, and possesses strong multi-state regulatory knowledge.

Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees across the enterprise
- Calculate and process wages, salaries, overtime, bonuses, and other compensation components
- Review and approve payroll registers, exception reports, and reconciliations prior to submission
- Handle off-cycle payroll runs, manual checks, and adjustment processing
- Maintain payroll calendars and collaborate with human resources to meet deadlines
- Manage state tax registrations and accounts for new and existing operating jurisdictions
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all payroll tax returns and monitor regulatory changes
- Serve as primary system administrator for ADP Workforce Now, configuring earnings codes, deduction codes, and workflow rules
- Manage retirement plan integration with the 403(b) platform and reconcile contributions monthly
- Lead internal and external payroll audits and develop internal controls to safeguard data
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field with 5 to 7 years of progressive payroll experience including 2 years of demonstrated work experience, or an equivalent combination
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-state payroll for a workforce of 500 or more employees
- In-depth knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and garnishment processing
Qualifications
- Experience managing California and Alaska payroll
- Hands-on experience with 401(k) or 403(b) plan administration and payroll-benefits integration
- Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional credential
- Prior non-profit work experience
- Exposure to successful HRIS or payroll system transitions from planning through go-live
- Prior exposure to compensation analysis and classification
