Job Description
Gusto provides an online platform helping over 500,000 small businesses manage payroll, health benefits, 401(k)s, and human resources. The company maintains physical offices in San Francisco, Denver, New York, Burlingame, and Scottsdale. To support this infrastructure, Gusto is hiring a full-time Lead AV Engineer based in San Francisco on a hybrid schedule.
This is a senior individual contributor position acting as the primary design authority for audiovisual technology across the company workspace and serving as technical director for corporate events. The successful candidate will establish official company AV standards, guide multi-site capital roadmaps, and spearhead a large-scale migration of over 200 conference rooms from Zoom to Google Meet. Day-to-day work involves designing room systems, managing vendor relationships, administering software platforms, and utilizing AI-powered tools to automate routine reporting and scripting tasks.
This role suits an experienced audiovisual professional with a deep technical background in control systems, live broadcast production, and vendor management who prefers creating original technical blueprints over merely executing outside drawings. Travel to various company locations and flexibility regarding event hours are required.

Requirements
- At least 8 years of professional AV engineering experience including work as a senior or design-owning resource for multi-site organizations

- Hands-on expertise with AV control system programming, audio routing, video switching, and DMX networking
- Deep knowledge of collaboration platforms, streaming protocols, and broadcast cameras
- Proficiency in daily usage of AI tools for scripting control logic and analyzing platform data
- Experience managing an annual audiovisual budget and negotiating vendor relationships
- Availability to work on-site in San Francisco on a hybrid schedule with willingness to travel and maintain flexible event hours
