Caraway Home is seeking an Interim Director of Marketing for a temporary remote engagement. This full-time W-2 position covers a team leave starting November 1, 2026, and concluding April 30, 2027. The role reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer and involves managing the daily operations of the Brand Marketing team, including three direct reports and their extended groups.
The position is ideal for an experienced marketing leader who can integrate smoothly into an established team structure without a lengthy ramp-up period. Responsibilities include overseeing go-to-market execution, budget and timeline decisions, external PR agency relationships, partnership vetting, and retail marketing initiatives with major accounts like Target, Walmart, and Crate & Barrel.

Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations for the Brand Marketing team and its direct reports
- Provide strategic oversight regarding budgets, timelines, people management, and cross-functional decisions
- Oversee relationships and messaging continuity with external PR agencies and contractors
- Review press materials including press releases, pitches, and talking points
- Support partnership inbound opportunities, prioritization, and initiative guidance
- Deliver retail marketing guidance to the Wholesale team for accounts including Crate & Barrel, Target, and Walmart
- Partner with the CMO on performance management, maintain 1:1 notes, and share flags early
- Provide regular status updates to the CMO regarding team status, wins, risks, and decisions
Requirements
- Bring over 8 years of progressive Brand Marketing experience, including people management and managing managers
- Demonstrate end-to-end brand marketing leadership experience covering budget ownership, go-to-market execution, and cross-functional orchestration
- Possess experience managing external PR and communications agencies while contributing to press strategy
- Have experience managing wholesale or retail marketing programs with major big-box or specialty retail partners
- Show strong judgment on escalation versus independent decision-making with senior leadership
- Display strong written and verbal communication skills for executive stakeholder updates
- Demonstrate experience with performance management, coaching, and direct report feedback
