Job Description

BlackSky operates a space-based intelligence network delivering real-time satellite imagery, automated analytics, and event monitoring to commercial enterprises and government organizations. The enterprise seeks a Financial Reporting Manager to contribute to SEC filing processes, technical accounting research, and consolidated financial statements in a fast-moving operational environment.

This position suits a detail-focused professional with experience navigating U.S. GAAP standards and Securities and Exchange Commission regulations. The person chosen for this job will report directly to the Senior Director of Financial Reporting and Systems. Responsibilities span drafting quarterly and annual disclosures, maintaining XBRL tagging, managing audit processes, supporting internal controls, and overseeing OneStream consolidations.

Candidates must possess a current certified public accountant license alongside a relevant bachelor's degree. Applicants must also be eligible to secure a United States Security Clearance and meet government space technology export regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Compile monthly and quarterly consolidated financial packages encompassing cash flow statements, balance sheets, and operations statements.
  • Draft Management’s Discussion and Analysis segments alongside quarterly and annual footnote disclosures.
  • Build and preserve documentation workpapers supporting 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and proxy filings.
  • Collaborate with Investor Relations to produce quarterly earnings releases.
  • Liaise with management, legal counsel, finance teams, and external auditors during filing cycles.
  • Update and manage XBRL tagging for relevant reports.
  • Fulfill annual and quarterly SEC and GAAP disclosure checklists.
  • Respond to external auditor inquiries and manage audit support workflows.
  • Process journal entries linked to complex and non-recurring transactions.
  • Execute technical accounting research for significant agreements and emerging accounting standards.
  • Administer OneStream consolidations and maintain corporate accounting policies.

Requirements

  • Active CPA license
  • Minimum five years of professional background in technical accounting, financial reporting, or public company audits
  • Advanced proficiency in SEC regulations and U.S. GAAP
  • Familiarity with Workiva
  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance and comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline
  • Background in Public Accounting
  • Familiarity with the satellite, space, SaaS, or related technology sectors
  • Experience using OneStream, Deltek Costpoint, or comparable ERP and EPM software
